Busy Busy Busy

This weekend ended up being a lot longer than I expected it to be, for both good and bad reasons.

Thursday I got off early (half day) so that I could go to an appointment and then head home to Auburn. I wanted to drop Maggie (my dog) off with my parents and since I was driving to Dothan, I thought it would also be a great break up of the trip. Maggie was going to be staying with Mom and Dad until Sunday when I came home to get her. (More to this story later).

My family and I went to eat at Jim Bob's (a chicken finger place in Auburn). This place has chicken, burgers and fish so my family always finds something we like. My family and I used to go to Jim Bobs every Friday and Dad would call it fish Friday. It used to be a tradition at our house, but since I've moved to Atlanta I have been missing out. Dad said that we would just have to make it Fish Thursday since I was home. I love my dad, what an incredible guy!

Friday morning I got up and ran some errands. I then got to go see the two kids I nannied for 2 years in college. They have gotten so big and are growing so much! I miss being a nanny to them and if I could do that full time, I would absolutely love it! I spent a few hours with them and then met Mom for lunch. Chicken Salad Chick, quite possibily the best chicken salad ever! Another Auburn restaurant that I miss terribly.

After lunch I had to head out of town to Dothan. My good friends Lindsay Shirley and Robert Shiver were having their engagement party in Linds' home town. I had so much fun with all the bridesmaids and groomsmen and all the other guests. They are such an amazing couple and Im honored to be a part of their big day in March! It was nice to see more Auburn people too! I miss everyone so much and love that there are occasions like this that allow me to see everyone again.

After the engagement party I drove to Mobile. A long 3 hour drive! My bestfriend Amanda and I had planned a trip for me to come visit her and so I made the trip happily. It was so good to see her. We ended up out on Saturday and I ran into some more familiar faces! Such a great weekend for seeing old friends! Manda and I just hung out and I met her boyfriend (great guy, I'm so happy for her). The trip was definetely not long enough and I am definetely going back to visit again soon!

Sunday afternoon (the bad news). My plan was to get up and go eat lunch with Amanda and then head to Auburn to pick up Maggie and then drive to Atlanta. A LONG TRIP. But, Maggie had a different plan. Around noon I got a call from my mom asking me if I was driving. I wasn't yet and asked what was going on. She told me that Maggie had been outside and about 30 minutes before she came back to the house with her front paw in the air and she was crying. She wouldn't let anyone touch her foot and she wasn't moving. She just layed on the couch almost lifeless. Mom said that my Dad said it was probably either a bee sting or a snake bite, but that they would keep an eye on her and let me know.

20 minutes later I got another call. Mom had found the marks where a snake had bitten her and they were rushing her to the vet. (Of course, it was a Sunday and the only place open was the Veterinary School clinic). Maggie was sedated and given some medicine to help stop the pain, bleeding, etc.

Mind you I am still in Mobile at this point. Completely freaked out that my "child" was hurt and I was not there with her. I drove like a bat out of hell all the way back to Auburn with tears in my eyes the majority of the time. (Thank God for my moms radar detector!) I made it home before they released her from the vet. They wanted to keep her overnight, but my Dad and my uncle (Maggie's vet in Birmingham) told me that she would be ok at the house and that we would watch her. So $200.00 later MAggie was home, still drowsy, and SOOO swollen.

I carried her in the house and sat on the couch with her and she just layed on my lap not moving, half asleep. This was heartbreaking. Maggie is such a busy body (always going all over the place). I hated seeing her feeling so bad. She stayed very mellow and moved very little for the majority of the day. I knew she was going to be ok, but I was still so worried. The moment I knew for sure that she would eventually get back to normal was dinner time. She walked slowly over to the table and layed next to my chair half sleeping/half waiting for me to give her some table scraps.

I stayed in Auburn on Sunday and my work was so kind to let me work from home on Monday. I sat with Maggie, working and watching her all day. Dad gave me the "ok" to take her home with me that night and so now Maggie and I are home in Atlanta and trying to heal. I have to take her to a vet here to make sure everything is healing correctly, but she should recover completely.

Such a scary experience, and this is just a doggie! I can only imagine what I will do when I have children and one of them gets hurt. I will have to work on "hiding" my emotions. I've got a while for that though!

Atlanta weekend!

It was another successful weekend in Atlanta. I've been really good about staying in town for weekends recently. At first, I must admit I wanted to go home on the weekends. The whole concept of being away from everything I had ever known didn't sit too well at first. But now, I stick around much more often and go home maybe once a month.

Friday, I got to see Jessica, which was exciting! I haven't really seen her all summer since she has been in Jacksonville with her family. Her mom got me an awesome gift so I got to go pick it up from her. It was nice to see some of her family as well. They are some of the nicest people. I just wish I could have seen her mom and dad, Tam and Poppy. They are great. I didnt get home until around midnight so I just hung out in Alpharetta with some friends and called it a relatively early night.

Saturday, The weather was perfect so after a late breakfast at Cracker Barrel (YUMMY) I layed out by the pool for a few hours. It was so nice just to sit and relax while the dogs played in the pool. So nice. Saturday night I went to a birthday celebration! Had such a great time with them.

Sunday, The Braves were playing the Mets so a group of us got together to go. I am becoming more and more a fan of baseball now that I live here. I even catch myself watching some of the braves games on TV. Now, Im definetely a sports fan, but baseball was one I never could get into. I'm glad I have found a new love of it though. There is nothing like tailgating with a group of friends (especially when its the offseason for football)!

Speaking of which 47 days until Auburn's first game! So excited! Love Love LOVE football season!

My first, but hopefully not my last!

I have cracked. I am now continuing on the trend of creating and maintaining (hopefully) a blog!

For those of you who don't know, after graduation I accepted a job in Atlanta! So my life has changed drastically from the familiar of Auburn to the craziness of Atlanta.

While it took some time, I am now officially ok with the traffic, the enormous amounts of people, and the changes I had to make, but there is one thing I have not and am not sure I ever will get used to.

When I graduated, I thought that everyone I knew would just happen to end up in the same city I decided to go to. RUDE AWAKENING, it seems like the majority of my college buddies have just spread out over the state of Alabama and Georgia with very few actually being in Atlanta. While some are still in school at Auburn, others have moved to Birmingham, Huntsville, Mobile, etc. It's so hard to have everyone around at all times and then all of a sudden you have to plan trips to even see them for a few days! I miss everyone so much.

Thankfully, I have met an amazing group of people here in Atlanta. They are all a lot of fun and I really do enjoy having them in my life. I just wish sometimes that I could have both my "Atlanta friends" and all of my "college friends."

Growing up is hitting me a lot quicker than I wanted it to I think. My life has already taken a complete 180 in just 5 short months. I'm excited to see where I end up and I'm even more excited about having a new place to share it with everyone!

Here is your official permission to "stalk" my blog. :)!
