If only you knew what you were getting into

Dear soon-to-be college grads,

I know it is so sad to be leaving college and exciting to be getting a big girl (or boy) job and finally facing the "real world" but every single tweet you tweet, or facebook post, or thing you say does not have to do with the fact that you are graduating.

I know it is exciting (trust me I was just as excited as you are), but leaving college, while a whole new chapter in life, is not exactly the most exciting thing in the world. Thankfully for you the economy has turned a little in the past year so there are some jobs, but let me tell you once you get that job it is the "beginning of the end" (as my dad would say). (I'm of course being dramatic).

I, unlike a lot of people I am friends with or graduated with or know, like my job. I enjoy the travel I get to do, I enjoy working with my clients, I enjoy doing what I can to make sure these groups are getting everything they need, I enjoy getting my paycheck every two weeks. However, I'm also in a field that I did not go to school for. I have not used public relations one time since I graduated. Yes I still write (usually in the form of an email), but most of the other stuff is long gone in my life.

I know looking for jobs is a pain and finding your "perfect job" seems impossible, but sit back and think, do you really know what your perfect job would be? Wouldn't it be better to get some experience and find out what you like and what you don't like. Trust me the things you think you like now may be your least favorite thing to do after you get out here into the real world. This may just be my experience, but I am not sure that anyone can really know what their dream job is. After a while, your only dream may be to sleep in on a weekday and not have to sit in your office or cubicle for another second.

Just enjoy your final week of college, and prepare yourself for the responsibility of life after school. Life after allowances from your parents. Life after lounging on the couch/pool chair all afternoon and taking random naps on any day. Oh and you should probably be ready to limit those crazy nights out in the middle of the week too, those aren't nearly as fun the next morning when you have to be at the office at 8 am. While life out here can be hard, and money can be tight, it's such a great feeling being independent and finally on your own. No matter how many money issues I have had in the past 2 years and 4 months, I would never go back to college (and yes I did love college). I've grown so much over that time that I would never want to take the step back and not be who I am today.

Best of luck in your future plans, in your job search, and in life. Your world is about to be so different, but oh so wonderful. Just make sure you appreciate what you have now and maybe tweet or facebook about something other than your upcoming graduation. :)

Running around like a chicken with my head cut off...

So a few days ago I blogged about my new home, and the fact that I'm excited to be moving... now all the work that comes along with moving is setting in. Im starting to freak out!

I have to move in 13 days. 13 days! What?!? In the next 13 days I have to have my house packed up again, my chest of drawers moved from J's house to my current house so the movers can move it to my new house, find boxes, and clean my current house/room. I hired movers ($115 an hour, am I in the wrong ocupation?)So I want to make sure I have everything packed up and taken apart before they get to my house so they cant dillydally around and waste my money :) Now when am I going to get all this done? Did I mention that the two weekends between now and moving day, I will be OUT OF TOWN! What is wrong with me? Have I lost my mind?

This weekend I am heading home to celebrate Easter with my family. (J's coming too! YAY!) We leave Friday afternoon and dont get back until Sunday evening. One great thing about this weekend is I get to see my sweet Mags who has been living at her grandparents house for a month!

Is it possible not to miss that face? I don't think so. I'm not sure if I will be bringing her home with me yet or not, she may just stay with them until I am in my new place with a yard for her to run.

So when I get home next week (and the remainder of this week) I'm hoping to get all my packing done and my bed taken apart (again with the movers wasting my money). But I also have to focus lots of time and attention on planning a Bachelorette party. My cousin is getting married in July and her MOH is like 16 so I have agreed/appointed myself to help plan this fun event. I'm working with girls who dont seem to like to respond to emails though so my life is very difficult. The party is the last weekend in April (the weekend before moving day) and I've got so much to do. And accomodating lots of different personalities and experience with Bachelorette parties is getting really hard. I have the brides permission to go all out, so hope no one get offended :). Goodies have been ordered.

Needless to say I'm stressed and if you dont hear from me for a while, don't worry about me, Im just buried beneath boxes and furniture and 3 houses (my stuff is spread across 3 (4 if you count my parents house) places.

1....2....3...Break

Alright after a straight month (literally AN ENTIRE MONTH) of traveling for work, I'm home for a while! Well sort of, I'm gone all but 3 weekends from now until mid-July. (Those are all for fun so I don't count that as travel.)

Despite the fact that I am home, my life definitely is not slowing down. A little over a month ago, I moved into a townhome with a friend from college. About a week after I moved in a neighbor got robbed (when I say neighbor I mean like across the street, way too close for comfort.) A few days after that, my tire gets slashed, no this is not a joke. I love the house (and my roommate), but my safety is more important, not to mention that dang tire cost me over $200 (you can't just replace one tire or the treads dont match!)

So... I started looking at new places to go. I looked at apartment after apartment and never really was set on one. I have never lived in an apartment and will be happy never to live in one ever, so I went to my favorite place to find housing... CRAIGSLIST! I know super sketch right? Don't you worry I'm super careful. Well, guess what!? Craiglist paid off again!!!

I am the brand new leaser of a one bedroom carriage house in Brookhaven! It is so cute AND best part, it has a fenced in yard for my sweet Mags! Oh I'm so excited. It has a living room, kitchen, foyer area, sunroom, backyard, bedroom and bath. It is so cute! I'm excited to make it my own! I know, I know, you may be wondering where are you going to stay with you visit? No worries, I have you covered!

To start that process, I of course went to do my most favorite things, FURNITURE SHOPPING. Not exactly the cheapest hobby to have, but I love it. So after an all day shopping trip with my Mom and looking at lots of ugly furniture and furniture that wouldn't fit in my loving room, I found the perfect set. I am now the proud owner of a sofa (a sleeper sofa, see I told you I had a spot for you), a love seat, new coffee table and end tables, and a sofa table (for my TV). I'm so excited to get in there and start making it my own! I move in 2 weeks, May 2nd, so come visit me!

Anyways, I will take lots of pictures when it is all set up and you will get to see if for yourself. Kelli and Katie, you may be the first to break in the sofa bed... whoop whoop Warrior Dash!

For now I will end this, but now that I'm a little less busy, I will keep you updated much more often.
